a 7¼" gauge miniature railway in glorious Suffolk

In early Spring 2016 a consortium of members from the Southwold Railway Trust joined forces for a first foray into the world of 7¼ inch gauge miniature railways. We were able to acquire locos, stock and track with a view to creating a family-friendly attraction within the valley of the River Blyth (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), giving rides to the general public and spreading the word about the Southwold Railway Trust.

Now called the Blyth Valley Light Railway, we have already added to our rolling stock and track facilities, with the ultimate aim of creating a permanent home nearby on which we can run steam-hauled trains and invite visiting locomotives.
