a 7¼" gauge miniature railway in glorious Suffolk
Southwold Railway Trust Open Weekend
Saturday and Sunday 18 & 19 June saw an encouraging number of visitors to the Southwold Railway Trust Charity Open Weekend at their trackbed at Wenhaston. Normally not open to the general public, this open weekend meant everyone was welcomed to share in the beauty of the countryside in this charming corner of Suffolk and investigate developments over the past year.
Trust volunteers were busy laying temporary track along the trackbed, and the Blyth Valley Light Railway was in operation for the very first time, with our diesel outline shunter giving free rides for young and old alike. Judging by the positive feedback the weekend was a great success and the BVLR is sure to run again this season. Watch this space for details of future running sessions.
